Sehr geehrte Museumsdirektorinnen und –direktoren,

Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen,

wir möchten auf eine Umfrage von ICOM INTERCOM (International Committee for Museum Management) bezüglich des Projekts Museum Leadership aufmerksam machen und ersuchen, die Bemühungen zu unterstützen und sich zahlreich daran zu beteiligen.
 

Weltweit sehen sich Museen mit dem beschleunigten Wandel und den Auswirkungen von Covid-19 konfrontiert. Mehr als je zuvor wird visionäre und pro-aktive Leadership notwendig sein, wenn es um Resilienz und Wieder-Aufschwung im Museumssektor geht. Während es bereits viele Studien zu Leadership im Allgemeinen und immer mehr auch speziell zu Leadership im Museumskontext gibt, fehlt dennoch ein globales Bild. Aus diesem Grund hat INTERCOM zum allerersten Mal überhaupt eine weltweite Umfrage zu Museumsleadership gestartet. Das Projekt findet lt. der Vorsitzenden von INTERCOM Dr. Goranka Horjan innerhalb des ICOM Netzwerkes breite Unterstützung und wird voraussichtlich auch bei der nächsten ICOM Generalkonferenz 2022 in Prag Thema sein.

In diesem Sinn ersuchen wir um rege Beteiligung. INTERCOM erhofft sich zahlreiche Antworten aus der Zielgruppe der Museumsdirektorinnen und –direktoren in Österreich!

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to you to follow up on the email from INTERCOM regarding Museum Leadership Project survey.

Museums across the globe are challenged by a combination of accelerated change and the effects of Covid-19. More than ever before, resilience and recovery in the museum sector will need leadership which is visionary and proactive. Within this context, INTERCOM has launched the first global survey of museum leadership ever undertaken. This project has attracted widespread support with the ICOM network- it has been the successful recipient of a major SAREC grant and is negotiating to have leadership adopted as a major theme at the Prague 2022 Triennial Conference. Global diversity is the goal of the survey project. Wave 1 of the survey (conducted in December 2020 and January 2021) resulted in nearly 300 completed surveys but an analysis of the data revealed that diversity is still to be achieved. The largest number of responses from that wave of the study were from North America and Europe. In this second Wave, we are seeking to target other regions- Asia, Africa, Central and South America, Russian speaking countries and Eastern Europe.

We need your help. Please complete the survey and distribute links below to your networks. It should be sent to Directors of Museums as these are the people whose capacity to lead others and inspire resilience will be central to the future sustainability of our sector. The survey is available in six languages:
