The Promise of the Museum as a Civic Space for All

Museums are more than repositories of objects. They are public spaces where communities encounter histories, negotiate identities, and imagine shared futures.
The 2027 special focus asks how museums can strengthen civic life while confronting barriers to access, representation, trust, and participation. It welcomes critical and practical work on the museum as a space for dialogue, learning, memory, justice, and belonging.
