Donau-Universität: Summer University Cultural Property Protection 2017

21. August 2017 - 25. August 2017, Donau-Universität Krems
Disasters, be they natural or manmade, pose an ever increasing threat to our cultural heritage, especially movable heritage stored in museums, depots, archives and libraries. Only personnel trained for emergency situations and scenarios can do their very best to act in time for saving damaged heritage.
During this one-week Summer University, the participants will learn how to deal with materials affected by catastrophes, including paper and books which are among the most vulnerable and difficult to treat. Participants will not only handle materials which are in need of rescue, but will also have an opportunity to develop workshops for personnel who deal with movable heritage on a daily basis and emergency unit personnel, who might be called upon to help in catastrophes.
