COSTUME Annual Meeting - Exhibitions and Interpretations
ICOM INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR MUSEUMS AND COLLECTIONS OF COSTUME
This year the ICOM Costume Committee will be holding its annual meeting in Toronto September 8-13. We are planning a great week in this modern, vibrant and bustling city, with a rich dress and textile history, from a major centre of garment production in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, to a home for many of Canada’s contemporary fashion designers including Comrags, Jeremy Laing and Smythe.
ICOM Costume is pleased to announce that registration for its annual meeting is now open. The meeting will be held in Toronto, Canada and the theme of the conference is ‘exhibitions and interpretation’. It is followed by a post conference tour to Montreal and Ottawa 14-17 September 2015. Paper sessions will be held at iSchool of the University of Toronto, where we’ll be the guests of the Museum Studies programme. Afternoons will be filled with visits to key museums in the city including the Royal Ontario Museum, the Bata Shoe Museum and Toronto’s newest museum, the Aga Khan Museum of Islamic Art. There is also a programme of related evening events.
Registration is via the Aga Khan Museum website where you’ll find details of registration fees, as well a link to the programme and the registration form. http://ticketing.agakhanmuseum.org/single/SelectSeating.aspx?p=2319
